It’s that time of year again!
I don’t mean Christmas
It’s time to think about
R e n e w I n g your
British Reining Membership!
The NRHA have changed their rules for Affiliates, and it is no longer compulsory to join NRHA. Therefore if you only wish to compete in British Reining classes, you do not now have to pay the additional fee to NRHA. It is still preferable to join NRHA as you have many additional classes to compete in at shows. NRHA fees are now $95. (£50)You can renew/join online or through BR.
New membership cards and membership packs will be sent out in January, but the earlier you can send in your completed forms and cheques the earlier the administrative process can be completed. As agreed by members at the AGM there is an annual rise of 10% on British Reining membership fees.
Free Membership. We now have an additional category for membership. This will be known as Companion Membership. This will entitle FREE membership to the non-competing husband/wife/partner of any full B.R. member. This companion membership will have the same voting rights as the competing partner. However, if the aforementioned husband/wife/partner wishes to help support BR funds, they can still contribute by taking a supporter membership at £10, or as many already do, become full members!
If you competed in Green-asGrass in 2007 you will not be eligible to compete in that class in 2008. The only exception would be if you started competed after 1 October onwards.
If you joined BR at the Championship show and completed a membership form, you do not need to send in a new membership form. I apologise for sending you one – but you will need all the other information included in this letter.
I know everyone filled in a form last year, but please can you fill in one for 2008. It is essential to re-confirm all your details to enable us to keep the database up to date. Due to the success of the Freerein magazine, Tally Wade is unable to continue writing Rundown, the British Reining email Newsletter. She will offer a reduced rate for Freerein, of £10, instead of £15 a year for all BR members. There will be two pages of British Reining news and views in each quarterly edition. (Please send contributions to Tally.) If you have not already subscribed to Freerein, Tally can be contacted twade@unity-media.com
stating that you are a current member of BR.
2008 Show Season. promises to be the best year so far for shows, now we have the new reining surfaces available to us. As you will see from the enclosed show schedule BR classes are to be run at most shows, and due to the success of the Championship show at Sovereign Quarter Horses, there will be an additional solely BR Show at he beginning of the season. These dates are correct at the time of printing, but please check on the website incase there are any changes to dates or times etc.
Clinics for 2008 : we have also a full calendar of clinics booked for 2008.
A list of these is Clinics, for all levels, is enclosed with this letter. Please put these in your diary and book early. Places will be limited on all clinics and bookings will only be confirmed with pre-payment on a first come-first served basis for British Reining Members.
Merchandise . Also new this year is a variety of high quality Logo merchandise. This will be available mail order from the web site in the New Year. Now is your Chance to have a say. The B.R .Constitution states that several members of the council have to stand down in 2008. Adam Heaton and Carol Gatt will be standing down, but standing for election again. There will be one or possibly two positions available. An application form is enclosed with this letter. If you would like to apply for a place on the Council please complete the form and return as soon as possible
Assistance required!! British Reining needs a secretary. Members have commented on the lack of information that is sent out or put onto the Internet, but we have not had any offers of help to resolve this dilemma! If anyone feels they would like to help in this aspect please could you get in touch.. The position as secretary is not a council position, but would entail attending Council meetings to take minutes which are then emailed to council, and send any letters etc as agreed at the meeting. If anyone feels they can help out by being secretary to ease the burden, please contact Carol or Peter.
Invitation to join Selection Committee for the British Team. The final selection procedure has now been agreed, and you will receive a copy of this with your membership in the New Year. British Reining needs applications from the general membership to be part of this selection panel. If you wish to apply to represent your country in Reining, you will not be eligible for a place on the committee. If you would like to help with future team selections, please send your details and a CV in writing to British Reining Chairman, Garol Gatt at: Melksham Court, Stinchcombe, Nr Dursley, Glos.
