Follow us to Lexington
Team GBR Reining is sending a team to Lexington for the World
Equestrian Games. To give all BR members a flavour of an event
like this, Dawn Heaton (wife of British Reining Chef d'Equipe,
Adam Heaton) has kindly agreed to run a weekly blog in the run-up
to the event.
You can access the blog by following this
link and don't forget to join as a follower to receive regular
updates.
Team GBR Auction
Raising funds to send the British Equestrian Team to
the World Equestrian Games in 2010.
A World Equestrian Games includes the eight disciplines
of dressage, eventing, show jumping, para-equestrian dressage,
driving, endurance, reining and vaulting – for the British
team this is more than 51 horses in total.
The Games are being held in Kentucky, USA, the first time
they have ever been held outside Europe. To send a full
team and remain one of the top equestrian nations in the
world, we need your help. All proceeds of this auction
will go towards sending the team to the Games and supporting
our talented riders in their quest to compete and win
on the World stage. Without your help we will not be able
to send a full team.
There are many exciting and unique prizes up for grabs
and each month we will be adding new items – take
a look at the fantastic items currently on offer and
don’t forget to sign up for our alerts so you can be the
first to know about new prizes!
Will Connell
Performance Director, Team GBR As part
of our agreement with the BEF this is the John Lewis Partnership’s
commitment to rasing funds for the World Class programme.
We wish the whole team the very best of luck at the World
Equestrian Games next year and hope we can make a small
contributiom to their success with providing unique prizes
for suporters to bid for.

For those of you who are new to the sport, here's a brief outline
of Team Great Britain Reining. The Past
Since Reining was first adopted as an FEI discipline in 2000,
Team GBR has competed at every CRIO (Concours Reining International
Official). From the first World Equestrian Games in Jerez (2002),
to the first World Reining Championships in Manerbio (2008),
our riders and owners have shown determination and dedication
to the sport despite being almost entirely self-funded.
Team GBR has consistently competed for medals, high spots being
the 2008 World Championship result which saw Team GBR missing
the bronze medal by just 5 ˝ points, two European Championships
(2003 and 2007) where the margin between the team and a medal
was just half a point at both competitions and the silver individual
medal won by Roseanne Sternberg in 2003.
This level of achievement was surpassed last year when Team
GBR won the bronze medal at the European Championships in Kreuth,
Germany. The team, Doug Allen, Tammy Greaves, Lee Rutter and
Francesca Sternberg finally won the elusive team medal, narrowly
missing out on silver. For The Present
With a rapidly expanding pool of riders competing for a coveted
place on the British Team, British Reining and Team GBR are
confident of their chances of a medal in forthcoming events.
Sponsorship at any level could help change this potential into
a reality so please contact us if you would like to get involved.
The Future
2010 will see Team GBR competing at the
Alltech
FEI World Equestrian Games in Lexington Kentucky.
Preparations are already underway for this event and British
Reining will be working closely with the BEF in the run-up
to this most prestigious competition. With many of our
youth riders preparing to challenge for a place on the
team for WEG, the future looks very bright indeed for
Team GBR. Complete packages - flights, accommodation
