Youth

FEI European Championships

"With the sport of reining growing dramatically world wide, Brtish Reining recognise that the long term future of reining in this country rests with its young riders and the need to encourage more youth into the sport. BR has been successful in negotiating funding for youth members with several being awarded financial support through Sport Aid England to assist in training and clinics. One rider has been awarded a talented athlete support scholarship (TASS) which not only gives financial assistance for training but also support services and benefits such as personal fitness training, physiotherapy, psycology workshops and medical insurance. It is hoped that further TASS scholarships may be awarded in 2010. Youth riders can compete in BR and NRHA classes in several national shows throughout the season culminating in a Hi points champion and national youth championship. This year there were also three winter schooling shows. There are increasing opporunities for youth riders to compete internationally and for the first time ever the FEI European Championships will include a Young Riders Championship. BR recognises the importance of International experience, and the need for youth members to compete in such events and other CRI competitions in Europe. This is an exciting time for British Reining youth members."
